The Twisted Case Of Maya Chappell
Maya Chapel was born in March 2020. Her mother was Dana Carr, and her father was James Chapel. Let me first tell you about Dana’s life. Dana had quite a bad upbringing. Both her parents had problems with alcohol. Her father mistreated her mother. He was then convicted of murder, and perhaps because of this, she was emotionally needy, immature, and craving love. Her first long term relationship was with James Chapel, but their relationship was unhappy and ended shortly after Maya’s birth.
In the summer of 2022, Dana started a relationship with Michael Draymond. It was to be a short relationship, but an intense one. They became mutually dependent very quickly. Towards the end of August 2022, they moved in together at an address in Milton Crescent. In the house, you had Dana, Michael, and Maya. Dana had a job and went off to work most days. Michael would stay at home looking after Maya while Dana was out of the house.
It did not take long before Maya began to sustain bruises, which were noticed by other people. On the 26th of August, Maya went to her father’s house for a few days. He, his girlfriend, and various members of his family noticed bruising on her cheek. Dana and Michael both maintained that this was the result of Maya having fallen from a slide in the park that day, but the bruising inside Maya’s ear could not have been caused in that way, and the bruising around her jaw looked very much like marks left by fingers.
On the 5th of September, Michael contacted Dana while she was at work and told her he had to grab Maya to stop her from choking. On the next day, marks started to come out on Maya’s face, a cut to her nose, and she had a burst lip. A few days after, Maya went to stay with Christopher. Christopher is Dana’s stepfather. Dana was very close with her stepfather, and he seemed also to get along with Michael. He noticed bruising on Maya’s torso, and he was concerned.
He sent Dana a photo he had taken of Maya standing naked in the bath. He said she has got all these bruises all over her, and he advised Dana to take the child to a GP. When he asked Dana, well, how did all this happen, where did these bruises come from, Dana told him, and would go on to tell other people, that these bruises were inflicted by Maya herself, that she often bumped into things or banged her head against the wall or the radiator in her bedroom, and that she pinched herself hard with her own fingers.
On the 14th of September, Maya attended a nursery close to the new home for settling in sessions. The staff said she enjoyed the sessions, however she never went again. The nursery received repeated messages from Dana saying that she was unwell. It seems clear that she did not want her to attend the nursery because the staff would have noticed Maya’s bruises and would have done something then. Around this time, Maya developed a particularly unpleasant, large, and very pronounced bruise on her genital area.
This was something that was bound to look suspicious to anyone who was changing her diaper. The expert evidence was that it could not have occurred accidentally or have been caused by Maya nipping herself. It was the result either of forceful contact or being pushed onto a hard surface such as the edge of a table. It must have hurt, and the person who caused this must have known this. Now, on the 15th of September, Maya was supposed to stay with James, her father, but Dana told him she was too unwell and canceled this visit.
Despite telling James that she was unwell, she was not too unwell to be allowed to stay with Christopher. So when she went to stay with Christopher, he decided to take Maya to see his sister. His sister was an experienced nurse. She was concerned at various bruises that were visible even though Maya was fully clothed. She pointed them out to Christopher and told him to take photos of Maya. He took photos, including the disturbing bruise on Maya’s groin.
Dana again told Christopher that these injuries were the result of Maya nipping herself. During this phone call, in the background, Michael was shouting, it wasn’t me, it wasn’t me. By the following weekend, the bruising had faded to the point where Michael thought it was no longer visible, and it was at this point Maya was allowed to stay with her father, James. James and his mother both noticed bruising on the same area, as well as three or four bruises down Maya’s chest.
Then at the end of the month, on September 27th, Dana was at work. Michael contacted her and told her that Maya had another bruise coming through on her face, as if they just randomly happened. He claimed this was because she fell off her bed. A day later, Dana went off to work again, leaving Maya with Michael, but Michael was having a very bad day. Firstly, he received numerous messages from someone to whom he owed a drug debt.
These drug debts had been a running problem for some months. He was being chased very aggressively for payment. He told the person chasing him that he was due to be paid shortly. Secondly, his phone records showed he made repeated contact with the benefits agency. They told him that his Universal Credit had been cut off. This culminated with a 16 minute call to the benefit agency just before 2 p.m. on that same day.
His stepfather, whose name is Carl Gallagher, paid a visit. He was not struck by any visible bruises, but he did notice that Maya was behaving oddly and commented that she seemed scared of Michael. He even considered taking her away from him before he left. After he left, Michael took a video on his phone of Maya. This video shows she is clearly upset, trying to back away into a small box shaped opening in the cabinet in the living room, as if trying to take refuge in a space that would be inaccessible to an adult.
It is quite clear she was scared of Michael. During the afternoon, his phone showed more visits to the benefits agency website and attempts to call them. Later in the afternoon, he received further aggressive messages about the drug debt, but then five minutes later, he made a call to Dana telling her that Maya had collapsed and that she should come home. Michael then called 999. The call handler dispatched help as well as talking to him, helping him give Maya CPR.
Despite the best efforts of the medical staff and police and the efforts of the staff in hospital, Maya did not regain consciousness and died. She was found to have suffered severe, unsurvivable brain damage. The expert opinion of five witnesses said this was caused by Maya having been violently shaken. However, Maya was also found to have severe and extensive internal hemorrhaging to the small intestine and to the large intestine, all probably as a result of some injury.
There was also a further large livid bruise over her private area. This was in a similar location to the earlier bruising she sustained. Furthermore, Maya’s body was covered in smaller but still noticeable bruises. There were multiple bruises on her face and her body consistent with direct impacts, and bruising around the jaw. Now, with the exception of the bruise on her left cheek which had occurred on the previous day, these bruises had not been seen before.
The vast majority of these were inflicted on the 28th of September, which is the day Michael was having a bad day. Now, during the weeks leading up to Maya’s death, Dana lied repeatedly to James, to her stepfather Christopher, to Maya’s nursery, and to her former employer. The lies she told to these people were about the state of Maya’s health and about the cause of the bruises. They were mostly lies told to conceal the fact that Michael was responsible for the injuries and to prevent other people from having the opportunity to see the worst of them.
And of course, these lies were told by someone who knew the extent of Maya’s injuries and who had caused them. Michael and Dana were then arrested and charged with Maya’s death. When Dana was interviewed by the police, she kept lying and maintained that she knew nothing. She told police that she was pregnant at the time of Maya’s death, but she was so appalled to discover what Michael had done that she had an abortion. Hey, that makes no sense.
The police then contacted various different clinics to find out when this abortion took place, but each time they contacted them, they found no record of any termination. Again, Dana still continued to deny any knowledge or awareness. Her emotional immaturity and selfishness led her to ignore everything Maya was going through without any regard to the consequence to Maya. In fact, after Maya’s death, Dana was let out on bail.
Within months, she entered another relationship with a man, she fell pregnant, and now she has a son, but because she was being investigated for the murder of Maya, her new son had to be taken into care. Wow. Now, as for Michael, he blamed everyone else. Firstly, he blamed Dana’s mother, then he blamed James, and then he blamed Christopher. But to the police and the judge, the only conclusion they came to was that when Michael realized his benefits were turned off and all the messages he was receiving regarding the drug debt, he took the anger out on Maya, attacking her, and then she died.
Michael was eventually sentenced to life in prison. Dana was sentenced to nine years. The Shire Green murders took place in Shire Green, located in Sheffield, United Kingdom, back in 2019. In this narrative, I am going to tell you the entire events. This case is very near and dear to me because I was actually born in Sheffield. I know how the people in Sheffield are, so this case left a shiver down people’s spines when they all found out.
It is still difficult to understand the sickening logic between Sarah Baris and Brandon May’s heinous and twisted plot toward their own children, but it’s been nearly two years since dozens of police descended onto Shire Green in Sheffield. Now they came after serious concerns were raised about the welfare of six children inside a property on Greg House Road. Sarah and Brandon had kids. Now the heavy police presence did peak the interest of the media at the time, and there were very scarce details as to what happened, but the grave reality became clear when it was announced that two boys had died.
Fourteen-year-old Blake Baris and his younger brother Tristan Baris, who was 13, tragically died in hospital. This prompted a murder investigation which unraveled to reveal a monstrous conspiracy cooked up by their own mother and her half sibling. Yes, half sibling. The pair were in a secret incestuous relationship, and they had started plotting the horrific family assault at least 10 days before murdering their two eldest children on the morning of May 24th, 2019.
But the night before, the parents forced their four oldest children to swallow tablets, and these tablets contained a mixture of ingredients like ADHD medicine which were around the house somewhere. Sarah strangled Tristan, who shouted, stop, um, at one point, and he was struggling to get away. And in front of him was his brother Blake. The traumatized youngster yelled, Mom is killing Tristan, but Brandon then strangled Blake with his bare hands.
The killers swapped victims and placed bin bags over their heads to make sure they were dead. Sarah and Brandon then tried to drown one of the other children, but that child survived as they struggled and hysterically screamed and pleaded, why are you trying to kill us? Sarah’s plot involved taking her own life after killing her children. She planned to kill the youngest children last, but ended up taking the surviving kids into a bedroom and calling the police.
When officers arrive, she gave them a notebook, and on the notebook, there was a page entitled funeral arrangements. Now the question on everyone’s mind at the time was why. Why did they concoct this evil plan to kill the innocent children they had brought into this world? Well, I’ll come on to the motives a little bit later. Let’s go back to 1998, where police and social services were told about Sarah and Brandon and their incestuous relationship.
Sheffield Children Safeguard Partnership is a government body whose aim is to ensure that every child and young person in Sheffield should be able to grow up free from fear of abuse or neglect. They conducted a report into Sarah and Brandon. The report revealed how in 1998, the family’s grandmother reported to the police that she believed Sarah and Brandon were in a relationship, as she found love letters. Back then, Sarah was 14 and Brandon was 18.
The report said a review of the letters and a denial of any relationship by Sarah led to no further action being taken place by the police and children’s social care. It is understood from records kept by Sarah’s residential care home that there were rumors from residents of a relationship between Sarah and Brandon, but these did not appear to have been formally raised. Sarah was in a care home, foster care, or something of that nature for a year at the age of 14 in 1999, and made historical allegations of sexual abuse against a number of individuals during that time.
In fact, a person was convicted of sexual assault in 2000 after what they did to Sarah. No fewer than 14 separate practitioners, including South Yorkshire Police and the Sheffield Council, had contact with the family before the boys’ death. The report concluded there was no evidence any of the practitioners and agencies involved with the family could have predicted the actions taken by their parents. Brandon was father to all of Sarah’s children, but she repeatedly refused to disclose any details of the paternity to practitioners, for obvious reasons.
Now Martin Baris, who is the brother of Sarah, did phone social services amid concerns for the children. Now it may be impossible to understand why parents neglect their children, but the NSPCC, which is a children’s charity in the UK, outlined some reasons why children are neglected. Children who require social services or similar governmental bodies are placed on a child protection register in the UK. So you know how like in the US, in the UK, and other parts of the world you have a sex offenders register, well if you’re a child in the UK and you are being abused or you’re being neglected, you go onto a child protection register.
Now the NSPCC start with poverty as the main reason for child abuse. If the parents can’t pay bills, a large reason for this is due to not prioritizing their finances. Not always the case, but you understand the idea nonetheless. They also confirm a lack of education can result in being on welfare for a long time, which again is a gateway to poverty. They also mention that serious relationship problems between the parents could leave psychological and physical effects on the child.
If the child is going through a messy divorce, if the parents are continually arguing in front of the child, this could be detrimental to their mental well-being. They also say violence between parents, domestic violence, can result in the child themselves being abused. By being abused as a child, this could become the norm for you which you could carry into your later life. This is also known as the abuse abuser theory.
They finally mention that a lack of support from extended family like grandparents or uncles could also lead to loneliness and isolation, and this is another form of neglect. By its very nature, child abuse is damaging to normal child development. Children who are neglected and abused will often exhibit a wide array of characteristics and behaviors. Just imagine the psychological effects this has on children when they are not getting their basic needs.
Most common among this array of characteristics are anger, depression, aggression, bed wetting, and social withdrawal. I feel social withdrawal is a big one, and low self-esteem. You could argue self-esteem and social skills is one of the biggest epidemics in modern Western culture today. And of course, at the extreme end of this abuse, it can also cause a child to dissociate and develop disorders like schizophrenia and personality disorder.
Personality disorder in fact is a mental disorder that affects a person’s ability to function in everyday activities such as work, school, and interpersonal relationships. So what I’m trying to tell you here is Brandon and Sarah with the four surviving children, who knows in 10, 20 years time where they’ll be. Do they have adequate social functioning skills? Are they able to be an upstanding member of society? Do they have the confidence to engage in relationships with friends and spouses and prospective partners?
Do they suffer like do they have a defense mechanism where when they try and do something, they’ll stop in fear of what they might find? In fact, when they get close to someone, when they finally feel like they’re bonding with someone, they could become paranoid in fear of what happened to them as a child could happen to them as an adult. And this could lead to a lack of impulse control, a limited range of emotions, and perhaps an inability to form long-lasting relationships.
So where did this tie in with Sarah and Brandon? Well, they were both from low-income homes, abandoned by those who should have loved them most. They were left to fend for themselves, nobody taught them social skills or norms, and they had to learn alone. With the earlier report of Sarah experiencing physical abuse, the mental toll this would have taken probably made her numb. This doesn’t excuse her actions in any way, but providing context to one’s actions could help us understand what is quite frankly ununderstandable, if that’s even a word.
Well, apparently Sarah, who experienced a chronically traumatic childhood, was under the assumption that her children were going to be taken into care, and she believed they were better dead than under the care of social services. This goes back to her history of being in foster care or with social services. She knows what it’s like. She became paranoid, so you see the effects it can have on children the way you’re raised.
The authorities were closing in on the family after the children began misbehaving at school and at home, and Sarah’s brother Martin, who went on to say from his earlier interview when he told the media that he phoned social services multiple times over the years amid concerns for the welfare of his sister’s children, Martin said those two have been evil since birth. They are both as bad as each other, they are both murdering evil psychopaths.
Martin said that he witnessed Brandon’s violence towards Blake years ago and he knew something wasn’t right. He visited them when Tristan was still in his pushchair, or stroller as some call it, and Blake was only a toddler. They must have been around three or four. Martin said that when they were out walking, Brandon grabbed Blake’s arm really roughly and dragged him across the floor, so he called social services and asked them to look into it. If they had, the boys might still be here today.
One of the four youngest children, who were all under 13 at the time of the murders, said they wanted their parents to go to prison for 300 years, and another feared they might become a murderer. During the sentencing hearing, the public gallery also heard how two of the children are emotionally broken by what happened and repeatedly ask why and how. Even if they did not witness firsthand the strangling of their brothers, they would have heard the terror playing out in a place where they should have felt safe.
The semi-detached council house where Sarah and her children lived remains empty and boarded up with pictures of Tristan and Blake pinned to the metal shutters on the property. It stands as a visual reminder of the sickening crimes that occurred there, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the house is soon demolished in a bid to erase it from people’s minds. There is no escaping the fact that these murders have tainted the community.
There are many who are still suffering from the traumatic events. One mom called Caitlin Pearson, who’s 28, she has a 4-year-old and a son at the school in the area. She said it sends a shiver down my spine whenever I walk past that house. Ideally, I’d like to see it knocked down, but I don’t think that will happen as it is attached to other houses. She went on to say that the whole tragedy has put a downer on the community and it is like a dark cloud being descended.
We need positive vibes and to look out for each other to get through it. It has scared a lot of young people and opened their eyes to the fact that parents can be capable of terrible things. Now with the review of Sarah and Brandon earlier that was conducted into these crimes, it stated that Sarah was terrified she was raising monsters, and again she was convinced social services would take them away. In the case review, which is carried out by Sheffield Children Safeguard Partnership, they ruled that there was no evidence that the agencies or practitioners involved could have predicted or prevented the boys’ deaths.
The review describes Sarah as a competent, caring, and capable mother who advocated for her children appropriately and sought help and support constructively. The family had contact with a large number of staff and a variety of agencies, but the same board said professionals’ view of mother’s parenting was overwhelmingly positive, and she was seen as a competent, caring, and articulate parent who supported and fought hard for her children’s access to appropriate support and help. She frequently self-referred to support services and the police.
Sarah had reached out for help with the two eldest children, who both had special needs due to an obsession with pornography. In the weeks and days leading up to their deaths, there had been an escalation of issues concerning one of the eldest boys. The report states that her eldest son, who had autism, had been constantly accessing pornography and had taken his auntie’s car without consent. He had also shown aggression towards his young siblings.
Despite being reassured by the social worker, who Sarah did have a good relationship with, Sarah didn’t believe social workers when they reassured her, and again was paranoid that her children would be taken away. She also did not tell them that Brandon was the father of the children due to concerns that the children would be taken away given Britain’s incest laws. Now finally, the report identified the following issues with the child services agencies. There was a lack of confidence in staff to approach the complex issues, and they weren’t confident in their responses.
It would have been helpful for specialist intervention to have started earlier. This is a report on their assessment of how the agencies acted. They also say consideration was not given to the impact on a single mom looking after six children, some with complex needs, on her own. The review highlighted professional optimism and a lack of curiosity on asking about the father. Now on the 12th of November 2019, both Sarah and Brandon were sentenced to life with a minimum term of 35 years in prison.
Okay, today I am going to speak to you about Isabella Gosling and Richard Moos and the murders they committed back in 2015. Now in this case, the center of it is a young man by the name of Philip Nicholson. This all took place in Bournemouth in 2015, which is in the south of England. And of all the cases I’ve reported for you or made videos or whatever, this hit me the hardest. And the reason why is because when I look at Philip, I feel like I feel all his pain.
When I look at Philip and the energy I feel, and when I look at his background and everything he experienced, I feel like this look into his eyes, I can sense all the pain and ridicule and rejection he felt in his life. So this is actually tough for me to make, but I’m going to try my very best, just keep that in mind. So as I mentioned, this took place in Bournemouth, and Bournemouth is like a beach town in England when it’s not raining, of course.
So 22-year-old Philip Nicholson, he had learning difficulties, and he was friends with Isabella Gosling. And Isabella at the time was 20 years old. However, the friendship seemed to have been very one-sided, and this is the theme of the crime, control and power. Isabella was clearly using Philip and his so-called difficulties for her own advantage. For example, in the case files, there was evidence that Philip gave Isabella 800 pounds, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out this is something Isabella would have asked for or would have demanded from Philip, and I’ll get on to more later why Philip gave her the money.
So if you look at this case a little bit more, on the 26th of May 2015, Isabella and her boyfriend at the time, Richard Moos, Richard was 26 at the time, and just to confirm, Philip and Isabella according to the story are friends, Philip is 22, Isabella is 20, and Isabella’s boyfriend Richard is 26, they made Philip go back to the apartment of Isabella. Now I’ve got the CCTV footage for you, so you see them walking, and so Philip is at the back with Isabella, and in front is Richard, and they’re just walking towards Isabella’s apartment.
Now it is believed that Philip was told by Isabella and Richard, there’s some girls for you back at the apartment, they really like you, they really want to meet you, why don’t you come through? And Philip was like, okay, I mean no problem, you know, it’s like if my friend said that to me, of course I’d go. Once they get back to the apartment, Richard hits Philip, he stabs him in the neck, and while this is going on, Isabella, believe it or not, was actually recording the incident on her mobile phone.
I mean, talk about the height of stupidity, but it makes you wonder why record this. The cognitive dissonance at the time to not be aware that this could have detriment, I mean the events itself obviously will change your life, but to record it too, I mean I can only imagine the thought process. So according to the police report and in court, this video was played out, and in the video you can hear Philip saying, what are you doing to me?
And Philip went on to say, stop, I just want to be friends, please. And this is the bit that makes my heart bleed, and this is where I come on to Philip himself. If Philip had learning difficulties, it was also said in the research I’ve done, Philip actually left his home two months prior to these events. I am going to give you the synopsis on what I think Philip was doing. Philip probably was rejected in school, made fun of in school, and was alone.
I know this or I’m guessing this ’cause there were so many kids in my school who were similar to Philip, right, social outcasts, they didn’t fit into what were considered social norms, which I disagree with. You know, Philip seems like I wish I knew Philip. Knowing the story, I wish I knew Philip because I would have made him my best friend, and I would have made him feel so happy, ’cause he deserved that. What he didn’t deserve was this stabbing that took place.
I am going to give you more details of course, but when I read this story and I look at Philip, I wish I helped him. Now before I continue, my videos will always be free, so if you do want to support the channel, donation links are in the description. Please also feel free to join my Discord where you can talk to me directly. Now let’s continue with the story. So with the actual video footage itself, Philip says, I just want to be friends.
And then Isabella continued recording him after he was stabbed. And then in the video footage you can see Isabella and Richard discussing how to leave the body and how to make it look like he stabbed himself. And I’m in my early 30s, and reading that, I’m trying to understand that when you’re 22 years old like Isabella, or even 26 like Richard, why are you thinking about killing someone? I can’t imagine, and why you would think about leaving the body or even this idea of let’s fake the death, if you know what I mean.
Like what happened to you in your younger life for you to have this train of thought? You understand what I mean? If you’re willing to throw your life away over nothing, then there had to have been some events that took place either when you were young or some form of abuse for you to find this acceptable. Now going back to the CCTV footage, you can see Richard and Isabella are now walking back the path they came.
So previously they were there with Philip, and then now as you can see, it’s just Richard and Isabella. Of course this is because in that interim, Philip went back to the apartment and unfortunately he was no longer alive. You can now see them entering a bus, and look at the casual nature of it, as if like yeah I’m with my girl on the bus, you know we’re going somewhere like this. What the image you’re seeing with Richard and Isabella on the bus is something you would see on a bus, on a train, or any form of public transport maybe 50 times a day.
So from this incident, four days later on the 30th of May 2015, Richard Moos and Isabella Gosling appeared before magistrates court in Bournemouth. So in the UK you have the magistrates court and you have the Crown Court. The magistrates deals with slightly lesser offenses and the initial hearings, and the bigger offenses are in the Crown Court where you have the actual trial. In between that, Richard and Isabella were held in custody, and then on the 23rd of November in 2015, the trial starts in Winchester Crown Court.
Isabella denied murder, but Richard pleaded guilty to the murder of Philip Nicholson. And on the 9th of December, Isabella Gosling was found guilty of murder herself. And on the 14th of December, again this was all in 2015, Isabella was sentenced to life with a minimum of 19 years, and Richard was sentenced to life with a minimum of 22 years. They both will be eligible for parole around 2038, but 19 years is nowhere near enough.
In regards to the extended family, I did read some quotes of Philip’s parents. Just imagine Philip’s parents. I mean they’re old and they’re experienced, they know what it’s like to be young and being in school. I can only imagine how much bullying Philip would have gotten in school. As I mentioned earlier, I grew up in Britain, I know what it’s like, and Philip would have gone through abuse every day, and his parents would have seen it.
And when your child is born and he has or she has some kind of difficulties, maybe a severe condition, maybe a mental condition, as a parent you could feel like you’ve already failed, you could feel inadequate. The love for a child can consume you, and I envisioned in my head that his parents would have felt so much pain on every bit of ridicule and abuse and bullying he took in school, ’cause they knew from day one that he did have some learning issues, and they probably thought, you know, I wish I could fix this for him.
I mean for me, I think what drew Philip to Isabella was acceptance, and I think Isabella herself was bullied in school. Let’s have a look at the two scenarios now, right. Philip is in school, he’s getting bullied, he’s getting made fun of. Look at your glasses, your hair, your face. Just imagining what young kids are bullying him with. And then he’s alone, he tries to make friends, nobody wants to be friends with him.
And out of nowhere someone comes along, and not just anyone, it’s actually a girl. She comes along and she is nice to him and she’s friendly with him, and this is something he’s never really experienced, someone actually accepts him for who he is. He’s going to latch on to that, he’s going to be emotionally attached to that. And in the case of Isabella, if she is continually bullied in school, if she’s made fun of by the way she looks or the way she talks or any hundred number of reasons why kids bully each other in school, she’s going to go and find someone who’s weak that she can control or that she can prey on to take out her weaknesses herself.
Like if she’s too weak to stand up to the bullying, then she might become strong and become the bully to someone who is weak. Whether you agree with the concept there, to me it’s as long as you understand the point, then you get what I’m saying, right? And this goes back to attention. When you’re alone and you’re seeking attention like all of us do, when someone accepts you, you are blinded by all their flaws, and that’s what love does.
And my guess would be that Philip loved Isabella, and love has a way of blinding the sharpest of minds sometimes. You look but you don’t see. And I think Philip, although he may have seen Isabella treat him aggressively, maybe she continuously swore at him, disrespected him, continuously made fun of him, played games with him, took money off him as you heard, I think Philip ignored all of that ’cause he was clouded by emotions, love for her, and the fact that he would rather be in pain but be with someone than be in pain and be alone.
I mean as human beings, we love having people around, we love having people who make us feel good, and we generally chase that. And I mean that in a respectful way. I chase it, you chase it, that’s the whole point of making friends. You become friends with those who make you feel good, but where it becomes trouble, whether you’re friends or in a relationship, is when they stop making you feel good, but you still stay out of attachment and having no alternative.
So going back to Philip’s parents, his mother Michelle said that what happened after that day completely changed my life forever. Michelle was about to go take a bath and she only had her nightgown and dressing gown on. The doorbell rang. She went to the door, she opened the door, and it was three ladies all in plain clothes. Now I’m guessing she probably meant police officers. Michelle went on to say that the ladies looked at her and said, we found a body, we believe it to be your son, and my heart just sank, my world has just been ripped apart.
Philip’s dad Chris, he went on to say, it’s knowing what happened to Philip, trying to live with what’s happened is difficult. It was also believed by police once they went through the investigation and they spoke to Michelle and Chris, you know the parents of Philip, that they knew the parents knew Philip was at risk for months before the murder. And when I read this, I was thinking to myself, we don’t know if a murder is going to happen, but the red flags again.
So this is what I think the parents would have done. As I mentioned earlier, the parents knew all the pain and suffering that Philip took throughout his life, so his parents would have become maybe overprotective, but his parents would have become more concerned than any normal parent, right? If my parents were never concerned about me getting bullied, so that wouldn’t come into play, but if I was to have gotten bullied severely, I think my parents would have been more protective over me and paid attention a little bit more to who I hung out with, right?
If the parents themselves did see Isabella, like you all have friends and they have their partners, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or whatever, and sometimes you can look at your partner’s partner with a bit more clarity than your partner, right, ’cause you’re not making the decision, your perception is not based on emotion. So sometimes you can see things a little bit more clearly, and I think his parents with their experience and their knowledge and their, you know, they are wise of course, I think they would have seen Isabella for who she is.
So the question is why did they do nothing about it? And for me, I think his parents saw how happy he was. They saw that finally he was smiling, finally he seemed like someone who was happy in life, which they probably didn’t see much. So they thought, okay, through love of a parent, through sheer emotion and happiness for their child, they thought, you know what, it’ll be okay, let him be. You know, he left home, right.
I can imagine he left home ’cause he was consumed by Isabella. In his head, through his emotions, he was consumed by Isabella, and the parents probably did try and stop him and say, hey, do you want to think twice about this, maybe we’re not sure about this? But in the end, I think they let him go because they knew he was happy. And given the fact that he probably wasn’t happy for a lot of his life, again this is my guess, then they had no choice but to let him go because they felt this was maybe not best for him, but they knew he was happy doing it.
According to some quotes from Chris’s father again, he said he could see the danger, but no matter what we tried or said or did in terms of Philip, Philip couldn’t see the danger, he couldn’t, and he just wouldn’t walk away. That’s Chris’s dad. And in regards to the actual footage, the video that Isabella recorded, Richard did ask Philip, are you paralyzed yet, ’cause no one will miss you?
And again I go back to the cognitive dissonance. Put yourself in that situation, God forbid, you wouldn’t commit a murder, I wouldn’t either. But when I try and put myself into that situation, where if I’m getting into a confrontation with someone, a hypothetical, and I have a weapon, say a knife or a stick of some kind, I don’t know, I never would, but let’s just say, and we get into an argument and things get heated and it gets aggressive, I’m never ever going to think in my mind, I’m pulling this knife out.
And if I did, I’m dropping it straight away. Like we have these instincts inside of us that tell us something is wrong or something isn’t right. Sometimes it’s guilt, other times it’s just intuition. But in the case of Richard and Isabella, it seemed like they enjoyed this. The longer they were at the apartment, the more and more they enjoyed it, hence why Richard seemed to be throwing it in his face. Are you paralyzed yet? Do you like this? Are you enjoying this?
Nobody’s going to miss you, nobody’s going to care about you, nobody cares about you now. So why would you want to be here? Nobody likes you, nobody wants to talk to you, all that stuff. I’m added as I’m adding as an extension to what he already said, but it’s all along the same lines. Richard and Isabella, two sick individuals, took pleasure in the murder of Philip. And I go back to the images of Philip. He loved her, he cherished her, she was everything to him.
He even gave her money. And Isabella, who should never ever ever see the light of day again, we all make mistakes, we don’t do that. And to give her what, 19 years, 20 years, or however long it was, is a disgrace to the justice system. Furthermore, regarding Isabella and Richard, we are all naive and we’re all smart, right, like depending on the situation we can act naive and we can make the right choice. Life is about decision making.
And I believe by the time you’re 20 years old, though you’re still learning and though you have a lot to get through in life, you have enough at that point for you to make the right decisions. And even if Isabella was bullied and abused in school, which again is a complete guess by me, but I do think she was, and for her to then go and take that out on Richard, like let’s keep it real, we’ve all been deceitful ’cause that’s what she’s being, she’s being deceitful.
We’ve all let other people down, we’ve all lied to other people, but most of what I just said there is only known by us. I know if I’m lying, the other person doesn’t. I know if I’m being deceitful, the other person doesn’t, right? Whereas Isabella decided that all that insecurity and everything she hated in life, she would take it out on Richard. Like she’s getting bullied, she has no friends, she’s angry, she needs to let it out.
She finds someone weak, she finds someone naive, she finds someone who she can prey on to let that anger out, and then take pleasure that finally she’s letting it out. But if she ever wants to see the light of day again, then that would be an injustice. And that’s what I think the motivation was, pleasure, power, and control. Control finally. Both of these individuals had power over someone, but it says more about their own insecurities, as I mentioned, lack of confidence and lack of backbone, than what it does about the control and the power.
The control and the power is secondary to their inner lack of sanctity. Now as human beings, we all crave control, we all crave some form of control. I’ve always said as a man, you got to be in control, just don’t be controlling, ’cause they are two different things. I also believe that lying, being deceitful, being a sociopath, having schizophrenia, and all these other social type non-norms, if that even makes sense, what we those in society who are not considered normal, I believe a lot of those come from experience and nurturing and their environment.
And looking at Richard himself, I think as his life went on, he would have gone on to become some form of offender. If it wasn’t with Isabella and if it wasn’t Philip, it would have been someone else at a different time. It could have even been a child, but I do think he would have become a sex offender or he would have committed some other kind of murder, ’cause I think his life was as such, his corruption was as such, that taking the life of someone else is what became his pleasure.
And finally, I want to conclude on this. The reason why I made this video and the reason why I told you this story, I haven’t seen many people tell it before, but I feel like I could tell it the way I did because I take one look at Philip and I get a hundred different names that come to my head, as many kids like him who went to my school. I don’t mean kids that have learning difficulties, what I mean is kids who look similar to him, right, short hair, white male.
I mean I went to a predominantly all white school, and it was fantastic, right? So when I look at him, there’s so many other kids that I remember from high school who were, you know, in chemistry class I remember, and in and what we would do in high school and like we would bully people, we’d bully each other like in a fun way, like you know I think in America you guys call it a thumb tack, in England we call it like a safety pin, we would put that on each other’s chair, right, like if I went to the bathroom they’d put it in my chair, I’d come back and I’d sit on it and it made my ass hurt, right?
But that was the camaraderie and the fun that we had in high school, right? And I remember in history class ’cause I was a bit of a history buff, our teacher had really bushy hair like, um, what’s the guy’s name from The Simpsons? I can’t remember, I’ll put the image up on the screen, and you know we would make fun of him, but in a lighthearted way, right? And there were other times in chemistry class where we’d mess around with the Bunsen burner.
I’m telling you this ’cause you know, during all these incidences, you know during all this fun, there was always someone in the corner by themselves, and we or I didn’t have the intelligence or the maturity to get them involved. So when I put myself in this situation and I look at Philip, my heart breaks ’cause I wish I were there, I wish I made him feel like somebody, I wish he wasn’t ignored. As many of us would rather be hated than to be ignored, as being hated acknowledges you exist.
And my guess, my opinion, my inference would be that for a large portion of Philip’s life, he was ignored. Thank you for listening. This is the story of Brian Blackwell. On July the 25th 2004, Brian attacked his parents and stabbed them both. In this video I will give you the facts of everything that happened, and then I’ll give you my opinion. What I think will be interesting for you to know was that Brian was found guilty and he was sentenced to life, however he’s been released on parole.
How many people or cases or crimes have you heard where a murder has been taken place, the criminal has been found guilty, but then has been paroled? In most of these occasions, they get released because of an unfair trial, or it wasn’t them. Another reason why I’m making this video is my favorite band Block Party have a song, and in this song which is called Two More Years, they make this statement, you don’t need answers for questions never asked of you.
See, in this story, I think expectation was the motivation for Brian, and I believe that expectations can be premeditated resentments in regards to a relationship. That’s the context, but it’ll make more sense to you as the story goes along. So I’m going to read out a couple of newspaper articles that I found. If you do end up liking this video, please subscribe, and if you would like to talk to me directly, please join my Discord, it’s a fantastic community.
Brian was an academically gifted public school boy, and he was nicknamed the brains by his devoted elderly parents when he was jailed for life on the 29th of June 2005 after he admitted killing them before using their credit cards in a 30,000 pound spending spree with his girlfriend. Brian, who was 19 at the time, bludgeoned the couple to death, then left their bodies to rot in the family home while he embarked on a six-week trip around the United States and the Caribbean with his girlfriend, Amal Saba.
Blackwell’s actions were driven by obsessive fantasies of unlimited success and power, a symptom of his narcissistic personality disorder. And in court, he pleaded guilty to double manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. His father Sydney Blackwell, who was 72 at the time, and his mother Jacqueline, who was 61 and who was an antique dealer, were found dead at their 350,000 pound bungalow in the village of Melling in Merseyside.
They had been beaten with a claw hammer and stabbed up to 50 times with a kitchen knife. It is thought Mr. Blackwell was sitting down when the attack began and had tried to reach a window before being felled by repeated blows. Blackwell wept in the dock of Liverpool Crown Court as his lawyer read out a statement which expressed his remorse. In it he said that he missed his parents more than anything in the world. He added, the guilt will punish and haunt me for 24 hours a day for the rest of my life.
He had been charged with murder, but prosecutors accepted his manslaughter plea after five experts said he was suffering from a disorder. Now police are still not clear about the sequence of events that led him to kill his parents, but David Steer, who was the prosecutor, told the court that his killing rage is likely to have been prompted by their discovering his travel plans and thwarting them. A feature of narcissistic personality disorder is for sufferers to fly into a rage if their fantasy world is threatened.
The murders took place on the 25th of July 2004, the day before Blackwell was due to fly to the US with Miss Saba for a holiday. He spent the night with his girlfriend before taking her to the US on a trip that began with a 2,200 pound a night three-night stay in the presidential suite of The Plaza Hotel in New York. He had told her he was Britain’s number one ranked junior tennis player and that he had received 70,000 pounds sponsorship from Nike.
The couple returned home on the 12th of August and Blackwell stayed with Miss Saba’s family in Chilwell, Liverpool. But on Sunday the 5th of September, this is 2004, the decomposed bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell, who were often away from home, were discovered hours later. Detectives arrested Blackwell, who had spent most of his summer living with his girlfriend. He first told police that he had been unable to enter his home and believed that his parents were away on holiday.
Blackwell initially denied the murders, and police reported that he believed himself capable of outsmarting the charge. One of the policemen said he was growing in confidence with the police. He felt that perhaps he could outwit us in the long term. While sentencing Brian, Mr. Justice Roy, who was the judge, said he had shown breath-taking callousness in his chilling crime. He said he had taken into account that Blackwell’s condition was untreatable and was likely to continue through his life.
Miss Saba attended the sentencing. She declined to discuss the case, but released a statement describing her enormous shock at discovering out what her former boyfriend does. Now let’s have a look at his girlfriend. Let’s go back to their trip to America. Amal Saba could not quite believe her good fortune. Ahead lay a luxurious weekend in the presidential suite of The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan with her glamorous new boyfriend.
Brian Blackwell said he was a professional tennis player and had written her a check for 39,000 pounds, half her new salary, as his manager. Before the 30,000 pound trip came to a close, they would taste the high life in Miami, Barbados, and San Francisco. Yet Blackwell was living a lie. As the couple moved from one luxury suite to another, the bodies of Blackwell’s elderly parents lay undisturbed in their 350,000 pound home.
The day before the young couple’s departure, Blackwell, a brilliant student known as the brains, had been hanging pictures in his bedroom when his parents returned from an evening meal. An argument broke out with his father, and Blackwell beat him to death with a hammer. He then stabbed his mother between 20 and 30 times and left their body in the bath. Blackwell had spun a Walter Mitty style fantasy in which he claimed to be a tennis player about to hit the big time with a 70,000 pound sponsorship deal and a place in the French Open.
He had applied for 13 credit cards using false information. A quick side note, I do wonder how his girlfriend fell for this. I mean it’s 2004, the internet is there, you can just check who’s playing in the French Open. It’s not long after that that Nadal and Federer came along. I know some of you may not watch tennis, where if someone tells you, hey, I’m a famous sports person, you’re going to Google them, right?
Anyway, there was little in Blackwell’s background to foreshadow such horror. He grew up a quiet, bookish boy with a passion for science, who his parents insisted was destined to be not just a doctor, but a surgeon. He attended Scarisbrick Hall, a private school in the Lancashire countryside, but was moved in 1998 to Liverpool College, which was another private school costing 7,000 pounds per year. During his final year, he began dating Amal, the 18-year-old daughter of a respected medical family, and both applied to read medicine at Nottingham University.
In March 2004, he visited a Mercedes showroom to test drive a 60,000 pound sports car. The following month, he wrote Miss Saba a check for 39,000 pounds to be his manager, despite having only 9 pence in his bank account. In May, he cashed in a 9,000 pound bond that his parents had invested to pay for his university education. Now, when the couple returned back from New York on the 12th of August, Blackwell stayed with them, and he explained that he was locked out of his house until his parents returned home from Majorca.
He claimed his parents were on vacation. A week later, he returned to Liverpool College to discover that he had achieved A grades in math, chemistry, biology, and Spanish. The results opened the door to study medicine at Nottingham University in October. It was a place you would never fill. On Sunday the 5th of September, the bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell were discovered when police broke down the door. There was so much blood on the walls that at first they suspected the couple had been shot.
A few hours later, Blackwell was arrested at Miss Saba’s parents’ home, where police discovered the rubber grip of a hammer and handle of a knife in his sports bag. Shocked neighbors painted a picture of a young boy who had a strict upbringing and had huge expectations heaped on his shoulders. One of the neighbors said they were a nice family, very private. Brian was very clever. He would play tennis at the local club and study hard.
His mother was inclined to be strict with him. Just to touch upon his narcissistic personality disorder, I’m no expert, but sufferers of this disorder have a grandiose sense of self-importance and entitlement and can fly into a rage if that sense is challenged. They are manipulative, confrontational, show a lack of empathy, and are preoccupied with success, power, brilliance, ideal love, and beauty. Many psychologists have said that many psychopaths have narcissistic traits, and you most often see narcissistic personality disorder when treating psychopaths.
So on the 29th of June 2005, Blackwell was sentenced to life imprisonment. Now at that time, Blackwell could have been eligible for parole after serving just over five and a half years if a psychiatrist decided he was fit for release, and at that time the judge said present evidence suggests that the conclusion is unlikely ever to be reached. However, in 2016, after an oral parole hearing, the parole board granted Blackwell’s release.
Now my conclusion on this case is I’ll go back to what I said earlier, expectations. Again, I’m no psychiatrist, psychologist, I’m no expert, so I can’t really talk on the narcissistic personality disorder. I’m not even sure if I quite understand what that is, being truly honest with you. But when I look at Brian and when I look at what he did, I think when he met Amal, he was so smitten, right. He didn’t have the confidence where he thought, yeah, I am good enough for her.
So he decided that he needed to make grand gestures to keep her. He thought she expected high things of him, and he took that to a whole new level. I might be wrong of course, but I do hope you understand where I’m coming from. See, when you meet a girl and she likes you and you like her, insecurities kick in. You question, do they like me? Are they going to text me back? Will they call me? Is this actually going to work out?
These are all normal feelings. And I think for Brian, because he lacked any kind of backbone in himself and because he didn’t believe that he was a good person himself, I mean I’m not saying he’s good, but at that time if he is to be this, you know, arrogant person who thought, you know, he was God’s gift to the world, which is what some people made out to be, then he should have had the confidence to tell her, be with me or not, rather than having to steal, steal all this money and pretend he’s some tennis player when in reality he’s an academic whiz.
Even with all this going on, he passed all his exams no matter problem. This guy was going to make bank regardless of if he was a tennis player or not. But perhaps of his strict upbringing and the expectation of his parents, which were a big burden on him, perhaps he always felt like he had to prove himself to people. Perhaps he felt with Amal that he was not worthy, so he’s going to prove his worth. And again, you can disagree, I respect it, but I do hope you understand where I’m coming from.
I couldn’t find any information on where Brian is now, but I think Brian is the first person, unless I’m forgetting, that I can think of who committed a murder, served the time, and now he’s out in public. And if he is, then well all we have to do is trust the system, because he’s gone through the process and he’s come out on the other end. And if he is rehabilitated, and we don’t know where he is, maybe that’s a good sign, ’cause if we know where he is right now, it’s probably ’cause he’s done something wrong.
Why don’t you guys comment, tell me what you think? Thanks for watching. Jeremy killed five members of his adopted family. He killed his father Ralph Bamber, his mother June Bamber, sister Sheila Caffell, and her six-year-old twin sons Nicholas and Daniel. This is a story of overbearing parents and overly religious parents, so I’ll give you out the facts of this story, then I’ll give you my own personal opinion. Now this took place in Essex in the United Kingdom in 1986.
Twenty-four-year-old Jeremy Bamber was jailed for life for killing five members of his adopted family at their farmhouse in Essex. He was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years for the murders of his stepparents, sister, and her two six-year-old sons Nicholas and Daniel. Sentencing Bamber to five life prison terms, the judge, Mr. Justice Drake, said he was warped and evil beyond belief. The controversial crime was hampered by police setbacks, and Bamber remained a free man on bail, living off his dead parents while investigations continued for a long time.
He protested his innocence, and as recently as 2001, his case was taken back to the court of appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The White House Farm murders read like something out of a crime novel. It had all the classic ingredients of a whodunit, tethered with a vicious ferocity and cruelty that contrasts with its idyllic setting. The crime involved brutal murders in the English countryside on a summer’s evening with a cast of characters straight out of a true crime story.
The victims were two overbearing religious parents, a mentally unstable daughter, a scheming envious son, and a jilted girlfriend. Bamber did not have a particularly audacious start in life. He was the illegitimate son of a vicar’s daughter and a married army sergeant. At 6 weeks old, he was adopted by wealthy Neville Bamber, a former RAF pilot, and his wife June, who farmed near the Essex village of Tolleshunt D’Arcy. A few years later, the Bambas adopted another child, Sheila Caffell, who they nicknamed Bambi.
Materialistically, both the children wanted for nothing and were given a private education, but they also had to endure strict discipline imposed by their devoutly Christian parents. Bamber had no interest in his father’s business, hated the farm and the farming world, and instead drifted through a series of jobs. He was however extremely flirty and used his adoptive background as a means to impress women with a pseudo-Playboy image he honed to perfection as an adult.
Sheila was attractive enough to start a promising career as a model, and her parents paid for a flat in London where she hoped to become a success. Sheila married and had two twin boys, but when the marriage broke down, she became depressed and began to suffer from illness developing into schizophrenia. One psychiatric report mentions that at times she believed her children were from the devil. Because of her problems, Sheila and the twins moved back to the farmhouse with her parents.
By this time, Bamber lived with his student teacher girlfriend, Julie Mugford. They shared a rent-free cottage provided by his parents at Goldhanger, a few miles from the main farmhouse. Neville offered Bamber a job in the farm paying him 170 pounds a week. It certainly wasn’t the glamorous position that the young man was desperate for, and even his requests to run the caravan site owned by the family were dismissed as Neville believed his son had no business sense.
Bamber hated the farm, but his father’s will cut him off unless he stayed a farmer. He wanted the life of a playboy and was determined to live it at any cost. He also despised his stepmother June for preaching religion at him, and he had never forgiven both parents for sending him away to public school. So on the August the 7th 1985 at 3:26 a.m., Bamber rang the police to report that his father had just phoned frantically to say Sheila was going berserk with a semi-automatic rifle.
When the police broke into the farmhouse, they found several bodies and a scene of near carnage. Neville’s corpse, bludgeoned and shot, lay downstairs in a pool of blood. It appeared that he had been shot upstairs, but had been beaten as he struggled to the kitchen to summon help. June’s bullet-ridden body was in her bedroom, and Sheila’s twins had each been shot several times in the head while in their sleep, one of them still sucking his thumb.
Sheila was also in a bedroom, had been shot in the throat, and was clutching a .22 rifle and a Bible. Sheila had a long documented history of illness, and it seemed clear to the police that she had shot her parents, children, and then finally herself. When Bamber was interviewed at the scene of the crime, he appeared genuinely distressed and was comforted by an officer and given tea and whiskey.
So convinced were the police by Bamber’s insistence that his sister perpetrated the dreadful act that they even agreed to burn carpets and bedding in the house at Bamber’s request. Soon the press were reporting the sensational story. Bambi had always wanted fame as a model, and ironically she had now won it briefly on the front pages of the tabloids as an alleged mass murderer. The police thought that they were dealing with four murders and one suicide.
They had been aware of Sheila’s mental health problems, and when Bamber had made out that his disturbed sister had gone crazy, there seemed no reason to question his story. However, the young man’s cavalier behavior soon began to arouse suspicion. At the funeral nine days later, Bamber let his vanity betray him by admitting that his only worry was that the cameras should catch his best profile. He put on a tearful performance at the graveside, but afterwards he went out for a meal with friends to celebrate, not thinking twice about how this would appear.
It was even noted that on the day of the killings, the police had passed Bamber driving to the scene at a casual 30 mph, hardly the actions of a distressed son concerned about his family. Finally, when Bamber told his girlfriend Julie Mugford that he had hired a hitman for 2,000 pounds, she reported this comment to the police. Despite this throwaway comment, the evidence against Bamber remained circumstantial, although Bamber’s fingerprints had been found on the murder weapon alongside those of Sheila.
There was no other forensic evidence to link him to the killings, in large part due to the fact that police had allowed the crime scene to be cleared in the meantime. Bamber enjoyed a life of luxury, spending his parents’ money and even going on holiday to Amsterdam. Although his behavior was now being closely watched, Bamber appeared unaffected and detached from the traumatic events. His sister’s modeling photos were only wanted as a keepsake so he could offer them for sale.
Fleet Street turned him down, but the likes of the Sun publicly demonstrated its disdain by brandishing front page headlines with Bambi brother in photo scandal. Despite the lack of evidence against him, the investigation unveiled a quandary with regard to the murder weapon. Without a silencer, the 25 shots that were fired would have made too much noise and would have alerted the victims to the danger. Yet if a silencer was attached to the weapon, it would have been too long for Sheila to have shot herself.
This startling realization seemed to rule out the theory that Sheila had taken her own life and therefore the possibility that she had been responsible for the other murders. Whoever committed the crime would have had to take the silencer off before they left the house after carrying out the killings. It was David Boutflour, Bamber’s cousin, who found the silencer in a cupboard at the farm, still with traces of Sheila’s blood on it alongside a single gray hair.
However, before forensics could study the hair, it had been lost. What was now certain was that Sheila had not committed suicide, but had been murdered. This confirmation meant that Bamber’s call to the police saying that she was running amok was a lie. On September the 29th 1985, Bamber was arrested and charged with murder. The trial commenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 14th 1986. Bamber’s girlfriend Julie Mugford was the star witness.
She alleged that Bamber had made murderous threats against his father. She told the court that Bamber had made the reference that his old father, mad mother, and sister had nothing to live for. It was then that he spoke of a fire and later a desire to hire a hitman. There were two explanations for the killings. The first was the prosecution case that Bamber entered the Essex farmhouse owned by his mother and father at night and shot the five members of his family with a legally held rifle.
Sheila’s blood was in the silencer of the murder weapon, proving that she could not have shot herself then put it in a cupboard downstairs. The second explanation put forward by the defense was that Sheila, who had a history of psychiatric illness, had shot the four members of her family with the rifle and then committed suicide. In the initial stages, the police thought it likely that the second explanation was correct.
Some officers however thought that some of the findings were inconsistent with this explanation, and members of the Bamber’s extended family did not believe that it was consistent with their knowledge of Sheila. Despite mounting evidence, Bamber remained confident that he would leave court a free man. However, the jury at Chelmsford Crown Court delivered a guilty verdict by 10 to 2. Bamber was handed five life sentences with a recommendation that he stay in prison for at least 25 years without parole.
The judge said, I find it difficult to foresee whether that it will ever be safe to release someone who can shoot two little boys as they lie asleep in their beds. He also noted the problems that had taken place during the initial inquiries and throughout the main police investigations. The first major error in this case was the police allowing the house to be cleared shortly after the killings. The house itself had been cleaned, and the carpets and bed clothes burned on instruction of Bamber.
Bamber’s fingerprints were eventually discovered on the Bible and gun left on Sheila’s body, but were missing during the initial inquiries. It was also revealed that while Bamber had said that he received a panic-stricken phone call from his father, Neville had actually been shot in the throat in the upstairs of the house and couldn’t have made such a call. The catalog of blunders led the trial judge, Mr. Justice Drake, to comment, the perfunctory examination is only explicable because the police thought there was nothing to solve.
Bamber needed to finance his playboy lifestyle. If his plan had succeeded, he would have received his parents’ leasehold farm, other prime land, the contents of the main house which he had reinsured, and half a share in a holiday home caravan site. The total of the estate was estimated at 436,000 pounds. Bamber was told by his trial judge that he was warped and evil, and added that he found it difficult to imagine anyone agreeing to release Bamber from jail in the future.
He has been told by each Home Secretary since his conviction that he will never gain his freedom through parole. Although Bamber has always pleaded his innocence and has seen two appeals against his convictions rejected, in July 2001 a team of police officers were given four months to complete fresh inquiries into the case. It was referred back to the court of appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission, which investigates possible miscarriages of justice.
In 2002, Bamber angered his relatives when he offered 1 million pounds as a reward for any information that would help quash his conviction. In December 2002, he lost his appeal against his conviction and also lost a high court case regarding a claim of 1.27 million pounds from his grandmother’s will that he thought he was entitled to. In 2004, Bamber was attacked by a fellow prisoner with a knife while talking on the phone and needed 20 stitches.
So now we come to my thoughts in conclusion, and I think it was the case that Jeremy was selfish and he only ever thought of himself. He had a huge ego and was spoiled. Now I know his parents were religious and they were overbearing it seems, but not completely. I don’t think they were as overbearing as what reports have suggested. For example, his sister wanted to be a model. Religious parents would have generally objected toward it.
I know, I know, maybe not all parents, but you understand what I’m trying to say. Them being overbearing, I can understand him getting annoyed, I get it. They probably wanted him to take over the farm as mentioned, and he was like, no, I want to go out when I want, to have fun. And to be honest, at the age of 24 when he’s got all the money in the world, right, and seems like a decent looking lad, thinks highly of himself, the last thing he wants to do is go and take over his family’s business, particularly something like a farm and other estates where it doesn’t seem or he didn’t see as something prestigious.
Now to conclude on Jeremy’s behavior, I think he just saw his family as a distraction. His sister’s mental breakdown after the marriage makes sense. I mean we all take tragedy differently, but it’s clear his sister had some kind of psychotic break when she got divorced, you know, as she became depressed etc. I think Jeremy wanted the money all for himself so he would never have to work a day in his life. I don’t think he was lazy, right, I don’t think he hated work, I just think he thought to himself, well I’ve got all the money in the world already so to speak, right, but I can’t do everything with it because my freedom is limited.
It’s limited because I have people I have to answer to. These were his parents who just so happened to be quite strict. And Jeremy, who only ever cared about himself and only ever thought about himself, just wanted to go out and have fun and show the world how great he was, and all he wanted was just his family to be moved out the way. I mean the ideal situation for Jeremy is if his father came to him and said, you know what Jeremy, here’s 2 million, now get lost and do what you want.
His father was never going to do that, but that would have been the ideal scenario for Jeremy. See the thing for Jeremy was that at the age of 24 he wanted that rich high life, but what Jeremy didn’t realize is that there’s always a cost that comes with it. It may seem great to be a millionaire, to be young, and to do whatever you want. I’m 33 almost, I have a big following on TikTok, and this YouTube channel is doing pretty well, it’s paying me pretty well, I won’t lie to you guys.
There are times in the street where people say, hey, you’re that TikToker, right? It’s a weird feeling to be known in the public eye, which is what Jeremy wanted, you know, that playboy lifestyle, fame, money, women, cars, you know every material aspect you can think of. But what Jeremy and other people don’t know when they look from the outside in is when you get a little bit of fame and when you stop making good money, the problems that come with that cannot be seen.
People look at the success of other people and they aspire to be that, but what they don’t see is the two, three, four, five years’ worth of hard work that that person took to get there. Go and have a look at some big YouTube channels, you’ll see videos 100,000, 500,000, 1 million views consistently. But what people won’t do is go back to the very beginning where most of their videos were garbage, specifically. I’m not being rude, but I’m trying to say that big content creators, successful content creators, have gone through a lot of trial and error, they’ve gone through a lot of pain, they’ve gone through a lot of soul searching to go to where they are.
Jeremy was not willing to go through any of that. Jeremy just wanted it all quick and fast and didn’t want any questions answered of him. Jeremy was a child. Thank you for watching. This is the story of Paul Dyson, who strangled his girlfriend on February the 13th 2005. This is the tale of a man more useless than the g in lasagna. I’m going to go through the facts of this case, which took place in England, and the theme of today’s video is that a man’s lack of confidence drove him to kill his partner.
I’ll tell you the story and then I’ll give you my own personal opinion so we can engage in a dialogue on why you think he acted the way he did. So if you do end up liking this video please subscribe, and if you would like to join my fantastic community, Discord links are in the description. Now Paul was known as a big man with a big mouth and a history of sadistic violence towards women. Some people call that a cad, you know, someone that’s dishonorable towards women.
He pleaded guilty to the murder of his girlfriend at their Hull home. He drove 100 miles to dump her body in North Yorkshire, then he made a tearful TV appearance begging people to help him find his girlfriend. Choking back sobs and ringing a handkerchief in his fingers, Paul Dyson looked into the TV camera and spoke of the deep moral love he shared with his missing fiancee, Joanne Nelson. He told how on Valentine’s Day they shared a hug, they gave each other cards, they gave each other gifts.
He had gone to work and returned home to find her gone. He told reporters that he loved her to bits and could never hurt her. He looked the ultimate broken man. However, whilst watching this performance, police officer Ray Higgins, his attention was drawn to Dyson’s hands. He spotted two crescent-shaped cuts on Dyson’s thumbs. The tiny marks were textbook throttling injuries self-inflicted during the act of strangulation.
And as Dyson stumbled over his words and poured his heart out to reporters, Joanne Nelson’s body was lying in woodland in North Yorkshire, covered with branches and hidden from view. Dyson had killed her days earlier following a row over him not helping her around the house. And this is where the lack of confidence comes in. I think Joanne made Paul feel like he was a nobody. She put him down. I’m not saying she did, I’m saying that’s how Paul took it, and then he acted, but we’ll get to that later.
The TV performance was part of an elaborate cover-up hatched only minutes after he strangled Joanne on the floor of the home they shared. It spoke volumes about the cruel, violent, and deceptive man who was Paul Dyson. Paul was born in August 1974 to parents Christine and Peter Dyson, with one younger sister and a half brother. There was little in his childhood that marked him out as a future killer. Interestingly, Dyson was close to his father, and his father in 1967 was convicted of manslaughter.
Talk about apples and trees, eh? His father spent six years in prison, and Peter, who was 22 at the time, stabbed John Dickinson, who was also 22, with a kitchen knife during a fight over Mr. Dickinson’s friendship with Mrs. Dyson. The fight took place at night in a narrow passageway in Barnsley, which is in the north of England. In a separate incident, his father was involved in a road accident that left a 47-year-old dead. Gordon Kell was on his way home after celebrating his silver wedding anniversary with his wife and family when he was in an accident with a van being driven by Peter Dyson.
Now Peter himself was devastated by his father’s death. In June 2000, Peter Dyson had worked as a doorman in Hull city center pubs, and this played a part in influencing Paul’s later choice of career. See, Paul was educated at Sydney Smith Comprehensive School. He then went to Hull College, where he obtained a diploma in civil engineering, which is impressive, and later the Bishop Burton Agricultural College, where he obtained a national diploma in horticulture.
At 17, he spent several months in Saudi Arabia with his father working in general maintenance. He also worked as a gardener for some time and as a machinist in Hull. On December the 2nd 2004, he started working for Bayam Timber in Sutton Road as a cross-cut operative, where he was working at the time of his arrest. But Dyson, despite being known as a hard worker, his passion was kickboxing. And at the age of 15, his father introduced him to martial arts.
Dyson trained to brown belt standard, and in 1995, Dyson was a reserve for the British team in the world kickboxing championships. He later became equally keen on bodybuilding. He began to use anabolic steroids, injecting them straight into his system. And just so you know, most people that take steroids, do you know where they inject them? You don’t know, yes, up there, bum. Dyson had a circle of acquaintances and a handful of close friends.
His bond with his trainer was demonstrated when Dyson chose to confide in him about Joanne’s murder in the days after the crime. Colin Allen, who was the trainer, wrestled with the knowledge before telling Dyson’s mother, who eventually told police of his admission. Dyson fancied himself as a ladies’ man, or in England as they call it, a Jack the Lad. He would use his position on nightclub doors to chat up women who came into the venues.
He is remembered by colleagues as mouthy and loud, and would spend much of his time talking about his athletic prowess and his physique. Dyson’s actions after Joanne’s murder clearly demonstrated his arrogance. Closed circuit TV footage filmed at the store across the road from their home in Holwell Road showed him calmly buying bin bags and rubber gloves at around the time of Joanne’s death. He wrapped her body in the sacks and then carried it to the car.
This was during broad daylight before driving it to the countryside and dumping her body. The next day, he went to work and behaved as though nothing untoward had happened. Now, Dyson had several key relationships before meeting Joanne. In 1993, he met Carrie Thompson while they were both attending Bishop Burton Agricultural College. Carrie Thompson told police how during arguments he would pace up and down, hitting walls and grabbing her to stop her leaving.
In June 1999, Dyson met his ex-wife Jenny Marie Clark and proposed after two weeks. He fathered a daughter, Chloe, who was born in October 2000. The couple’s stormy relationship was marred with blazing public rows. The two separated in 2002 and filed for divorce later that year. Shortly afterwards, Dyson met Joanne. Now, Joanne was described as a bubbly person, a bright person, a person who loved her family.
Joanne Nelson was her family’s darling, the most popular girl in her circle of friends, and a woman with everything to live for. She longed for a family of her own someday and thought she had found the man to share it in Paul Dyson, the bodybuilder and big shot who had charmed her on a night out in Hull. But the man whom she hoped would protect and care for her snuffed out her life in a moment of violence on her kitchen floor.
The wounds inflicted on Joanne Nelson’s family that day will never heal. They are mourning the slaying of a girl without malice who touched every heart she met. During her funeral, over 200 people turned up. A moving tribute was given by one of Miss Nelson’s younger sisters, Katie, which brought many of the mourners to tears. She said, anyone who knew Joanne knew she was a wonderful person. She goes on to say, she was fun-loving, high on life, and bubbly.
She was always the good one, so it’s hard to understand why something like this has happened to her. Now Joanne was a talented sportswoman. When she was in school, she was great at netball and at rounders, for those that know, rounders is the British equivalent of baseball. At the time of her death, she was working at the local job center, where she is fondly remembered. Colleagues said that she would go out of her way to do things for people, and they said that photographs that were published after her death would not do justice to how beautiful she really was.
The man who murdered Joanne when she chastised him for failing to help around the house, bound her body with refuse sacks, carried her to the car, and drove her to the remote woodland spot before he returned to their home and began his elaborate cover-up, getting rid of her work clothes, leaving messages on her phone. When he left for work on the day of her disappearance, it was reported he staged a mock conversation with her on his mobile phone for the benefit of a friend.
Then he cynically turned to Joanne’s parents for support, weeping on the mother’s shoulder and telling her how he longed for her safe return. Now on November the 8th 2005, Paul was sentenced to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 18 years. Now I’ll go back to the lack of confidence. See, Paul deep down was insecure. He needed the approval of other people, particularly Joanne. And when Joanne would not give him the approval he was looking for, the validation he was looking for, he would lash out.
His family has a history of odd moments, let’s put it, and whenever I look back at one’s family and upbringing, I always look at it with your pinch of salt, ’cause if you were to look at my life with a microscope, if you were to look at my upbringing, my friendships, my relationships, right, I’m sure you would find holes everywhere you look. But from his arrogance to thinking he was God’s gift to women, I mean just consider this situation, right.
You’re with your partner, this is what I’m like, you’re with your partner, you have a disagreement in public, let’s say you go out for dinner, you go out for lunch, whatever it may be, you have a disagreement in that moment. I normally just stay quiet or I change the subject, ’cause public perception is everything, right. I don’t like having rows in public, and the reason why I don’t is ’cause I am strong enough in that moment to walk away and then approach the situation again later on.
But Paul on the other hand, he could not let go. When Paul was annoyed, when Paul got pissed off, he had to have it resolved in that moment. He needed clarity in his mind in that moment. My guess, and all of this is my guess, purely my own inferences, my guess would be that he needed security from Joanne or whoever his partner was in that moment to make him feel better. And given the size of his ego, when Joanne essentially said, you’re useless mate, you can’t even turn on the dishwasher, you don’t even know how to do the washing machine, and other things that she said to him, his arrogance, his ego, his self-worth was so damaged, he thought of himself so highly, that mere criticism is the reason why he murdered her.
Now this did take place over 15 years ago, so I hope the family probably haven’t gotten over it, but I’m sure they’ve gotten used to it. May Joanne rest in peace. And the thing about British law, it’s quite lenient in comparison to American law. In America this guy would never see the light of day ever again, but in England 18 years there’s a chance he could be released. I don’t think this man should ever be released. One of you guys comment, tell me what you think.
