How Devas Got the Amrit?
How Devas Got the Amrit?
Friends, in the last three parts of this epic, we saw how the three worlds became destitute due to a curse of Maharishi Durvasa. And how one by one the appearance of 14 divine gems, the catastrophic heat of Halahal poison and the divine reunion of the actual form of Shri Mata Lakshmi and Narayan, we saw all this. Actually, the story of churning ended in part three itself. When Dhanvantari ji came out with the pot of nectar. But due to so much love and continuous request from all of you, we have to bring out this last part of it also. After all, how are we going to stand in front of you people? So just rotate your screen as always and enjoy this wonderful epic of Sanatan Dharma. According to the eighth Skandha chapters nine to twelve of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran as soon as Lord Dhanvantari appeared from the middle of the Ksheer Sagar with that supernatural Amrit Kalash, it seemed as if a storm of joy and happiness swept across all the four directions and why not, after all such a huge grand purpose was undertaken for this priceless heritage only. On seeing that divine Amrit Kalash in the hands of Lord Dhanvantari, a strange greedy glow appeared in the eyes of the gods and demons. After all, the supreme result of this great purpose of churning was now in front of him. But where there is greed, where can patience last? The intentions of the demons wavered as soon as they saw the pot of nectar. At that very moment a dispute broke out between the two parties as to who would get this nectar? To the gods or to the demons. Before Devraj Indra could understand anything, mighty demons like Vrishparva and Viprachiti pounced and forcibly snatched the Amrit Kalash from the hands of Lord Dhanvantari. On the banks of the Ksheer Sagar, those demons started running towards the underworld, holding that priceless heritage in their hands. This scene created an uproar among the onlookers. He felt that all his hard work was going in vain. Running away with nectar. This is the dignity of the demon clan. Deceit and fraud are their real culture.
Stop you fools. Don’t do such a disaster. Please forgive me Gurudev. But now this nectar is ours. We will not give it up. Asur Guru, is this your policy? Look at your unruly disciples who are crossing all the limits of religion. Seeing the situation getting out of hand, on the orders of Lord Shri Hari Narayan, the bird king Garuda appeared and started flying in the sky with his tremendous speed. Garuda Dev immediately attacked the mighty Vrishparva and Vipracitti. Friends, some stories and legends say that when Garuda Dev was returning through the sky carrying that pot, at that moment some drops of nectar from that pot fell on the earth. In which first is Prayagraj, second is Haridwar, third is Ujjain and fourth is Nashik. And friends, for this reason, till today a holy festival like Mahakumbh is celebrated at these places. Well, now let’s return to our story. The pot of nectar had returned, but the Yaksha question still remained as to who would win this nectar and in no time a fierce battle broke out between the gods and demons which lasted for about 12 divine days. The power of the demons and their illusion were at their peak at that time. All the demons united and launched a fierce attack on the gods and ultimately, using their demonic magic and numerical strength, the demons took back the Amrit Kalash and the gods just sat there watching with folded hands, completely dejected. On the other hand, the Amrit Kalash was now completely in the favor of the demons. With which he went straight to the palace of King Bali in the underworld. But as we said earlier, the distribution of this nectar was not going to be so easy because this is where the demons made a big mistake. There was only one vase but many drinkers. As soon as it was time to drink the nectar, a fierce fight broke out among the demons.
The powerful demons wanted to swallow all the nectar for themselves. Whereas the weak and frail demons just kept screaming and shouting. Brother, this is wrong. Whenever we have put in equal effort in churning, we also have equal rights on the nectar. Give me the nectar too, otherwise, I will break your head with this weapon. I am telling the truth, don’t force me. And the end result was that once again greed shattered the unity of the demons. They got entangled with each other and that priceless pot remained lying there in the middle of the earth. Now the Amrit Kalash was with the demons but the biggest irony for them was how to distribute it. No demon was ready to trust any other demon. On the other hand, the gods were now just sitting there in despair. It was a mortal problem for the gods that they could not find the nectar. But for Lord Narayana, it was such a great irony that if those evil demons drank this nectar, then disaster would occur. Without immortality these demons create such terrible terror in the three worlds. If he really becomes immortal, then who knows what kind of destructive havoc he will create. And then the same thing happened that happens every time. All the gods reached Vaikuntha crying. In the shelter of our savior Lord Shri Hari Narayan. Help me Lord, help me, if the demons drink the nectar then our very existence will be destroyed. Narayan. Now you do something, Lord. Otherwise everything will be destroyed. Have patience Devraj. You are forgetting that only the pot came out of the churning. The nectar has not been drunk yet. The answer to force is not always force. Devraj. Now the work which weapons could not do, Maya will do it. Be assured. That urn will remain with them. But not even a drop of nectar will go down his throat. Lord Narayana is omnipresent. He knew very well that the demons had taken the pot but due to greed they were fighting amongst themselves so much that it was not possible to take back the nectar from them so easily. Narayan understood that now he would have to use illusion and not force. A magic that even time itself could not have imagined.
The color of the body is as charming as the blooming blue lotus. This time his eyes were not like lotus but there was such a deep intoxication in his eyes as if they were a vast ocean of wine in which anyone could drown and lose everything. Her beautiful, thick and curly hair, waving in the breeze, looked like a dark cloud. The attractive body parts, the earring adorned in the ears, the high nose and that beautiful face, everything was so unreal that it seemed as if someone had transformed a dream into reality. The slender waist and the slender breasts of young women were wrapped in silk and jeweled ornaments. Bangles tinkling on the hands and a seductive smile on the luscious lips. And then the tinkling sound of anklets echoed. A form in front of which even the beauty of the most beautiful nymphs of heaven would appear pale and dim. This was no ordinary woman. This form was the Mohini incarnation of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu himself. Immediately, Sri Hari in the form of Mohini reached the underworld. At the same place where the dispute was still going on among the demons as to how this nectar should be distributed. Now another great purpose began, the purpose of deceit. In that Mohini form of his, Shri Hari reached the camp of the demons, waving his hand with a cheerful gait. The demons who at that time were eager to take each other’s lives for the pot of nectar. As soon as I saw that supernatural form of Mohini, I felt as if I had turned into a stone statue. Just move aside and let me see. Who is this Manmohini? Divine beauty, who are you? This form of yours has taken away our lives. Ugh what? You don’t know me. My name is Mohini. Come Mohini Mohini perhaps. Today these mighty demons of the three worlds seem to be in some deep dilemma. What caused your terrible controversy? This is a small vase. Yes Mohini. You step back. Don’t bother. I’ll talk to Sundari. No, I will talk. I am the biggest demon. Oops, be patient. Why are you getting into arguments with each other? First tell me where did this pot come from? What is the tone? Mohini. I mean beautiful. Good. We have won this Amrit Kalash by defeating the gods with our might. But who among us will drink it first? We are not able to reach any decision on this. Oh, how surprising. You are such a great, mighty and intelligent demon. Even the gods themselves tremble at your strength. And you are fighting among yourselves like children for a small pot. Does this suit mighty demons? No Devi, it is not like that. No one will fight now. Yes, yes. Mohini has said that everyone should remain absolutely quiet. You are absolutely right Rupasi. This dispute between us fools is showing no signs of stopping. Now you tell me Mohini. What should we do now? What can I say? What can I say? But if all you brave warriors trust me even a little, then I can distribute the nectar equally among all of you from this pot. Neither more to anyone nor less to anyone. So tell me, do you all want me to give you all the nectar with these soft hands of mine? Rupasi, are you telling the truth? Yes, yes, this is appropriate. We will drink the nectar only from the hands of that beautiful woman. You said the truth. There cannot be a better solution than this. Yes, you will get nectar too and that too from the hands of Roopsi. Cool beans. Cool beans. This will happen. Yes. Everything will be fine now. Mohini so mesmerized the demons with her slanting glances and arrows of sweet words that those foolish demons did not think anything. His mind had become completely corrupted. With his own hands, he handed over the most valuable pot of nectar in the universe into the gentle hands of Mohini. Roopasi Mohini.
According to Chapters 11 to 12 of the Eighth Skandha of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, Mohini bound the demons in her web of illusion in such a way that all their wisdom was destroyed. Mohini started dancing in a trance with that divine pot of nectar and entangled in her illusion, even those ferocious demons lost their senses and started dancing. Mohini very beautiful. And then as soon as the right opportunity came, Goddess Mohini disappeared from there with that Amrit Kalash and went straight to the gods. Without wasting a moment, Mohini started distributing nectar among the line of gods. But destiny was going to play another game here. A cruel and sharp demon named Swarbhanu, who was watching this scene from a distance, realized that the demons had been cheated once again. He saw that Mohini was distributing all the nectar among the gods. Immediately that deceitful demon changed his disguise. He assumed the form of a god and quietly sat in the row of gods. Mohini also, thinking him to be a god, poured nectar into his palms. But as soon as that deceitful demon touched the nectar with his lips, the sharp gaze of the Sun and Moon Gods fell on him. He immediately recognized the impersonator. Wait Goddess, this is not a god. Wait, Goddess. This is not a god. Believe me, Goddess. This is not a god. This is a disguised demon. As soon as Surya and Chandra said this, that Swar Bhanu immediately returned to its original form. Stop him for a moment as if a catastrophe has struck there. Before that sip of nectar could go down her throat and spread throughout her body, Mohini’s charming form ended. As Lord Narayana’s finger rose up, a huge beam of light erupted from the void. This was not an ordinary light but it seemed as if the energy of millions of universes was being concentrated at a single point. From the center of that light, the actual form of the cycle of time appeared. That was Sudarshan Chakra. Namo Narayan. Sudarshan Chakra was released with tremendous speed and in the blink of an eye, the neck of that demon Swarbhanu was severed from his body. But that demon could not die. Because that one drop of nectar had already reached his throat before the Sudarshan Chakra struck. Both his head and his torso had become immortal. And that same severed head was called Rahu in the universe and its immortal torso was known as Ketu. Sun and Moon God had revealed his secret. Due to this revenge, till today Rahu and Ketu swallow the Sun and the Moon from time to time. Which even today we call solar eclipse and lunar eclipse.
After this incident of Rahu and Ketu, Mohini’s illusion was completely broken. By the time those foolish demons roaming in the underworld realized how big a fraud had been played on them, all the gods had already consumed the nectar. Due to that invincible pride of immortality and the return of their lost power, the gods, without wasting a single moment, launched a fierce attack on the demons. The demons who had been deprived of the nectar could no longer withstand the attacks of the gods. This was no ordinary war, friends. It was a one-sided massacre. One by one, each demon was killed by the divine weapons of the gods. Within a few moments, that sacred shore of Kshir Sagar turned into a terrible cremation ground filled with the corpses of demons. Seeing this horrific scene, the anger of Acharya Shukracharya, the family guru of the demons, reached the seventh sky. Is this the culture of the gods? Is this the dignity of the gods? Trick every time. Every time a new trick and Narayan, you also cheated us. We gave our full contribution in the churning of the ocean. But you gave our share of nectar to these selfish gods. Talk of deceit and dignity does not suit your mouth. Acharya. When Devg had become powerless and poor. Then was the brutal attack on heaven by these demons justice? Destruction of these evil demons is the only religion. Seeing the situation getting out of hand and his clan being destroyed, Acharya Shukracharya invoked his favourite deity, Mahadev, the lord of all times. When the situation became so bad then Lord Shiva appeared there to establish balance in the universe. Because somewhere or the other the demons were cheated. Even though it was for the protection of religion, his labour was in vain. Mahadev, injustice has been done to my demons. But the gods massacred my innocent disciples. Even one of my disciples, Swarbhanu, has been put in such a miserable condition. Mahadeva we exerted equal effort in churning the ocean. Suffered similar suffering. Then why did only destruction come to our fate? The rules of Asura Guru Shukracharya cannot be avoided. As for Swarbhanu, he is suffering the consequences of his wickedness and deceit. But this attack by the gods is a display of their arrogance about their immortality. But the balance of creation is also necessary. And to balance that, I offer you a special gift. Lord Shiva who is the ultimate judge of the universe. He understood the gravity of the situation. The immortality of the gods and the complete death of the demons was against the balance of nature. Then to restore the balance between the gods and the demons, Mahadev, the Supreme God, gave them the knowledge of a divine science that could defeat even death. That knowledge was Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and Sanjeevani Vidya. This was the same supreme knowledge with which the demon guru Shukracharya could bring even dead demons back to life. The gods got immortality and the demons got the power of rebirth. And with this, this unimaginable cycle of the entire cosmic churning finally reached its completion.
Har Mahadev, the gods got nectar from this great churning. The sages got the Kamadhenu cow which fulfils all the desires. Lord Shri Hari Narayan got his better half, Mother Lakshmi. Humans got the Mahakumbh decorated with drops of nectar and the demons got the great boon of Lord Shiva in the form of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. But amidst all this, what did our Bholenath get? All that came their way was the devastating poison. That is why it is said in the scriptures, friends, that the one who establishes religion in this world and who is invincible is a god. But one who drinks even the most destructive poison like Kalakuta to protect this entire universe. He is only and only our Lord of Gods, Mahadev. So friends, this was the complete and unimaginable great story of Samudra Manthan, Parvati. But the truth is that the churning of the ocean did not take place only outside in the Ksheer Sagar. This churning is going on within us and you every moment even today. Our mind is that ocean of milk where the gods in the form of Satvik thoughts and the demons in the form of Tamasik tendencies are constantly churning. Due to this churning, many poisons like greed, lust, anger, attachment, avarice and ego emerge from within us. Now it’s entirely up to our discretion which one we accept. Remember, when a person moves forward towards his goal with concentration without worrying about the results of his actions, only then he ultimately attains supreme knowledge and success in the form of nectar. In this four-part grand series, we saw this great story from the divine garland of Santanaka flowers received by Maharishi Durvasa to his curse, from the Kurma incarnation of Shri Hari to the great sacrifice of Vasuki Nag from the motherly love of Mother Tara to Neelkanth Mahadev and 14 amazing supernatural divine gems and from the appearance of Mother Lakshmi to the distribution of nectar and the Mohini incarnation. But please tell us by writing in the comment section whether you want to know what happened next after this brainstorming? The tinkling sound of Mohini’s anklets became silent in the underworld.
