Find Parker ! URGENT SEARCH ! MISSING 11 year-old boy with autism

Hey guys, this is an urgent and desperate search for a missing 11-year-old boy called Parker. I don’t believe that his last name has been released, but he’s been missing since Thursday afternoon in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is 11, but he’s autistic and he only functions at a three-year-old level.

 is nonverbal and he is going to be terrified from being away from home for this long. So, what we’re going to do in this video is go through everything we know so far. At the end of this video, I’m going to play the press conference that happened yesterday. Parker, where are you? Let’s talk about it. Okay, let’s start with the basics. Parker is neurody divergent and non-verbal, may become even more scared if confronted by strangers.

 So, if you see him, please don’t approach him. Call the cops immediately. Acting inspector Rod McNeel said in an update Saturday afternoon, that’s a press conference I’m going to play at the end of this video. He said they are pulling out all the stops and using every available resource to find Parker.

 We are deeply concerned for his well-being given the length of time he has been missing and his specific vulnerabilities. [bell] >> An emergency alert sounding just like that one echoing across the province Saturday afternoon in a continued search for an 11-year-old boy. Parker has been missing since late Thursday morning. While this case does not meet Alberta’s legislated criteria for an Amber Alert, the province allowed an exception, letting Calgary Police Service use the emergency alert system to help find him.

>> Every [clears throat] moment counts. We need to reach as many Calgaryians as we can in such a short amount of time. >> Parker is described as a vulnerable neurodeivergent child, and police say they’re concerned for his well-being with the amount of time he has been missing and his specific vulnerabilities.

 His family shared a statement minutes after the alert was issued pleading for the safe return of a loved son, brother, and friend. They say Parker experiences the world in his own way. He may not respond when his name is called, and he can become frightened when approached by people he does not know.

 Because of that, they’re asking people to instead call police if he’s spotted. He was last seen shirtless and wearing dark shorts and black noiseancelling headphones. Crews have been out searching without success for days now. The alert asks Calgary residents, especially in Cambrian Heights, Thorncliffe, North Haven, Highwood, Highland Park, and Green View to be vigilant and check their properties for any sign of Parker.

>> It’s about 51 hours too late. >> Stephanie Caris is a mom of two children with autism. She’s been advocating to expand the alert system to include vulnerable Albertans. Why isn’t there something for vulnerable youth and adults that aren’t equipped? >> To Parker’s family, Caris says the whole province is gathering behind them.

Police are asking the public to look anywhere a child may hide. >> He was seen on CCTV and that’s his last known sighting. But where did he disappear from? He was last seen at his day home. I don’t really know what that means. In the naugh to 100 block of Connor Drive northwest sometime between 11:08 a.m.

 and 11:41 a.m. Thursday. So, very late morning. Then some clothing believed to belong to Parker was found around noon in the north to 100 block of North Mount drive northwest. Now, we’re going to get the map up in a minute. On Saturday, police said that CCTV footage captured Parker on Thursday at 12:52 p.m.

 52 minutes past 12 in the 5,000 to 6,000 block of Travis Cresant Norththeast. This is the 100 block of Conart Drive Northwest. That’s where he disappeared from his day home. Some clothing was found in the 100 block of North Mount drive northwest around noonish. And I’m assuming that would be maybe his t-shirt or a hoodie, something he was wearing on his top because when he was seen on CCTV at 12:52 p.m.

 in the 5,000 block of Travis Cresant, he was only wearing shorts. So maybe he’s got hot and taken his top off and just dropped it. What concerns me is this river here. Now, this river honestly doesn’t look massive, but remember Nicola Bully, that river didn’t look massive either. So, this is Travis Cresant and it is very close to this river here, creek, whatever this is.

 So, if we just go onto this bridge, we can see what this river looks like. And you can see it looks pretty shallow, but this is from May 2023. So, I don’t know what it looks like right now. It does look very shallow, unless it’s had a load of water dumped in it since, but it does concern me about this water cuz we know a lot of autistic kids like water.

 And if he was thirsty, he may have tried to go down to this river for a drink. However, that’s just a speculation because the river is so close to Travis Cresant, but the cops have said that he can walk long distances. Staff Sergeant Scott Guterson told reporters Saturday the distance between the two locations is about 5 to 6 kilometers.

 I only make it 3.9 km, but because we’ve only got approximate points. It could have gone further, but I make it 3.9 km from Conart Drive northwest to 5,000 Travis Cresant. We know that he can walk great distances if that’s what he chooses to do. So maybe he’s a lot before, I don’t know, but that’s what the cops said yesterday.

 It’s our hope that this picture will allow the public to see Parker as he was last known to us with the clothing that we believe he was wearing. So, we’re asking the public to look at that picture, share that picture with their friends, their family, their neighbors. The more eyes we get on that picture, the more likely we are to be successful.

 So, that is believed to be Parker on Travis Cresant at 12:52 p.m. on Thursday, and he hasn’t been seen since. He was last seen shirtless, wearing gray shorts and black noiseancelling headphones. He is 4’11 tall and weighs approximately 90 lb, and has brown hair and brown eyes. And remember, he’s 11, but he only functions at a 3year-old level.

 and he is nonverbal. If you see him, please call the cops. He’s likely to be frightened. He’s likely to hide and he needs to be treated as gently as possible. So, if a member of the public does see him, we’re asking that they call 911 right away if they are certain that it’s him or even if you think it’s him, honestly, so that we can deal with him as safely as possible.

 Calgary police shared a statement from Parker’s family. They said, “A single sighting, a piece of video footage, or one small detail could help bring him home safely. Our only wish right now is to know that he’s safe and bring him home. Knowing that so many people care and are looking for our son has given us strength during the most difficult time of our lives.

 Parker is deeply loved and he is missed immensely. We just want our son home.” Since his disappearance, investigators, patrol officers, and specialized units have been searching the areas where Parker may have traveled. Approximately 30 tips have been received and assessed by investigators. Officers have reviewed or are currently reviewing approximately 50 hours of CCTV, residential security cameras, and dash cam footage.

 And officers have conducted door-to-door inquiries in all the surrounding communities and continue to canvas the area. But he could have gone further, way further than the police are searching currently because he is known to walk great distances if that’s what he wants to do. As well as the cops, about 120 trained search volunteers are assisting with the operation.

 Members of the public may continue to see a significant police and search presence in these communities, including our air support unit, mounted patrol team, mounted bite unit, K-9 unit, patrol officers, investigators, and trained search volunteers. the public. If you’re in this area, even if you’re a few miles away, please check your property, including garages, sheds, hot tubs, under decks, under vehicles, anywhere that a small child, he’s only 4′ 11, could get into, please check as well.

 Residents can check the security cameras, footage, anything that might be Parker needs to be reported to the police. You can submit information online. Okay. So, I’m going to play the press conference now from yesterday. So, I’ll say goodbye here. If you’re in this area, even if you’re a few miles away, please do everything you can to assist the police in locating Parker. It’s desperate now. He’s been missing since Thursday. So, please check, check, check. >> Good afternoon, everyone, and thank you all for being here.

 I’m acting inspector Rod McNeel and before I begin, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of everyone involved in this search. Since Parker was reported missing, the Calgary Police Service has had significant and coordinated response, supported by investigators, patrol officers, specialized units, civilian staff, and hundreds of Calgary Police Service members who have worked tirelessly around the clock.

 There is nothing more important to us than finding Parker. We are pulling out all the stops and using every available resource in our efforts to locate him. I also want to thank our many partners who have come together in support of this effort, including Alberta Search and Rescue, local search and rescue teams, community organizers, and the many agencies that have offered resources, expertise, assistance throughout this investigation.

 Most importantly, I want to thank the members of the public. The response from Calgarians has been extraordinary. From sharing information and reviewing video footage to checking properties, assisting search teams, the community support has been invaluable. I’d also like to take a moment to speak about the Alberta emergency alert that was issued today as part of our ongoing efforts to locate Parker.

 First and foremost, we want to thank the government of Alberta of Alberta for its support in this investigation for an improving uh an exemption that allows us to use the emergency alert system in this unique circumstances. While this was not a true Amber Alert, um Parker is a vulnerable autistic child and we are deeply concerned for his well-being given the length of time he has been missing and his specific vulnerabilities.

The government of Alberta recognized the urgency of this situation and worked with us to make this alert possible. We are grateful for the partnerships and the commitment shown to helping bring Park Parker home safely. This alert allowed us to quickly reach Calgarians with critical information and generate additional awareness as search and investigative efforts continue.

 It has asked residents in Calgary, particularly in the communities of Cambrian Heights, Thorncliffe, North Haven, Highwood, Highwood Park, um check their properties for any sign of Parker. We know Albertans care deeply about the safety of children and we are hopeful that expanding the awareness through the Albert uh Alberta emergency system will generate new information that may help us locate them.

Again, we want to sincerely thank the government of of Alberta for the support and cooperation. Our thoughts remain with Parker’s family who continue to face this incredibly difficult and uncertain time. Every resource, every partnership, every additional set of eyes help as we continue our efforts to find Parker and bring him home safely.

With that, I’d like to turn it over to acting staff sergeant Scott Gunnerson for an update uh on the search and the investigation. >> Thank you, Staff Sergeant. My name is Staff Sergeant Scott Gunderson, and thank you all for being here. We continue to ask for the public’s help in finding Parker. That means that we’re asking the entire city, not just the communities that are close by Thorncliff, but the entire community to check their yards, check their garages, check their sheds, check their RVs, check their hot tubs. Anywhere that

someone of his size could fit, we’re asking people to check that. Again, Parker is 11 years old, he is autistic, and he functions at a three-year-old level, which is of course why one of the reasons why we are so concerned and why we have put forward such an exhaustive search.

 Uh today we released a a picture from closed circuit television of Parker’s last location that came from the 5,000 block of Travis Crescent Northwest. It is our hope that this picture will allow the public to see uh Parker as he was last known to us with the clothing that we believe he was wearing. Uh so we’re asking the public to look at that picture, share that picture with their friends, their family, their neighbors.

 The more eyes we get on that picture, the more likely we are to be successful. We’ve dedicated a significant amount of resources to finding Parker. We have been working as investigators around the clock since his disappearance came to our attention. We’ve had at least 30 tips from the public that we are dealing with.

 Our CCTV review people have gone over at least 50 hours of surveillance footage from the general area and can continue to work with that. And we’ve had at least 200 members from the police service assisting in the investigation. We are not going to stop until we find Parker. In addition to the resources and the search uh partners that staff had mentioned, uh we’ve had at least 100 or more volunteer search organizations uh through Alberta Search and Rescue and the other partners that were mentioned yesterday. We’d like to thank them as

well. Uh [clears throat] we continue to uh use our air units, our mounted units, our K9 units, our patrols, our mountain bike units. Everyone that we have available is now working to find Parker. We’re asking and we’re reminding people not to go onto private property when they are looking. Stick to their own property and stick to public areas.

 And again, just as a reminder, when Parker is found, he is likely to be frightened. He’s likely to be scared. So, we need to be as gentle as possible if he is seen. So, if a member of the public does see him, we’re asking them that they call 911 right away. Once if they are certain that it is him so that we can deal with him uh as safely as possible.

 Are there any questions? from the time that he initially went missing till the time that like the last known video left of him. How much time and how much distance between those two location. >> So that is about a 2hour time period and it is a distance of about 5 or 6 km and again we haven’t had a sighting of him since that time uh on the 16th.

 So we are now very quickly eclipsing the 48 hour mark. >> So such a quick so this uh this little fell can make it quite a bit of distance over limited amount of times. with your time. >> Yes. Yes. >> Very mobile at the moment. >> He is. Yes, he is. >> Do you know if he’s traveled very far before out of the area? >> We know that he can walk great distances if that’s what he chooses to do.

>> You said the emergency alert was critical and and helpful in engaging the public. We had an advocate that my colleague was speaking to earlier today who said that alert came 50 hours too late. Do you have any opinions on when this alert came out? Maybe the process behind getting that alert sent as well? Yeah.

 So, there’s certain criteria um that have to be uh met in order to do it. And you know, at the time that criteria wasn’t met, but uh like I said, we’re very very thankful um to the government of Alberta who realized this is a very unique situation. Um and Parker, you know, is in great danger. Um so what changed? Well, you know, it was over 24 hours later and we still hadn’t located this um this boy.

 So, you know, every moment counts. Um, so we work together with the government um to say, “Hey, you know, it may not be a true Amber Alert, but we need to reach as many Calgarians as we can in such a short amount of time. Um, so the government stepped up right away, made that exemption and we were able to get that alert out.

” So, >> you said one request and and the government looked up. It was a matter of multiple requests over the last day or two. >> Uh, nope. Nope. Like I said, we with our partners, we uh we collaborated with the government and uh made that request and it happened. Is the search area now officially with all the the space he’s made? Is it officially like the entire city limits now or what’s the actual search radius where we’re asking the entire Oh, yeah.

Go ahead. >> Um uh no, like we’re focused uh it’s certainly not the entire um city. I you know I can’t um speak specifics about the you know because that’s the search and rescues but we’re still um contained kind of in that northwest um northeast um you know section of those communities that I had mentioned earlier like are we you know looking in you know Cranston right now? No, we have you know our our um information and and through our search managers and the subject matter experts we’re still focused in on those

communities that that I had mentioned. And any question just in terms of other concerns? Of course, a missing boy, neurody divergent, that brings a lot of concerns, but also it’s extremely hot out today. Is there concerns that he may have been abducted or anything like that? Like, could you just speak to the the layers of concern here? >> Yeah, there there’s there’s no information um right now that I can tell you uh that would lead us to believe that he’s been abducted.

 Um, like I say, in this case, um, you know, what we’re hoping, um, is that, you know, because, um, Parker is scared, he’s like, as as any child, you’re away from home for more than, you know, 48 hours, you’re going to be scared. So hopefully he’s, you know, scared and he’s just hiding somewhere or hunkered down.

 And that’s why we have, um, uh, like I said, like the staff sergeant mentioned, so many over 120 um, very highly trained volunteer search and rescue that are combing every inch of these neighborhoods. And so it, you know, can take time, right? Because it’s a systematic search where we’re going where we don’t want to leave any stone unturned in the search.

>> And is the heat creating a concern? >> Um, it’s I mean it’s it’s creating a a concern for um you know like of course right for our searchers, that kind of thing. So um our partners um right at uh Alberta Health Services um you know have come to help at our command post to make sure our volunteers are hydrated.

 We have a rehab station um that sort of thing. So, we have all kinds of plans in place um you know to to help that. I I you know I’m fortunate it’s now um that Parker’s gone missing and it’s not minus 32° we’d have more of a concern. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Oh sir, last last question is is there do you know if there’s any other people missing in Mahogany as an example just off the top of your head? Uh, no.

>> Something’s reported to our station that something was found 11-year-old was found in the pocket just in the last 10 minutes. >> In the last 10. >> Yeah. So, I don’t want to transform. >> No. Uh, unfortunately, I’ve been dedicated to this search, so I’m unaware of um other calls going on in the city. >> Thank you.
