Truck drivers told these horror stories from the roads.

For those who have worked driving on the roads at night, there are many stories to tell, or perhaps they are all just stories, nothing more than stories. The most haunted roads in Brazil. If you often travel late at night on deserted highways, you might want to pay attention to this story.  Why are there roads in Brazil where truck drivers, police officers, and travelers swear they’ve seen things that are impossible to explain?  Places where people disappear.

Where voices emerge, radios are turned off, and where some drivers believe certain curves are cursed. What you are about to hear brings together three accounts inspired by stories told for decades on Brazilian roads. And after listening to the end, you might never drive alone at night the same way again.

The woman from the bend in the mountain range. This happened in 2017 on an old stretch of the Serra dos Tamoios mountain range, in the interior of São Paulo state.  Carlos Menezes, 42, had been working as a truck driver for almost 20 years.  According to fellow travelers, he was known for never believing in supernatural stories. Until that night.

On that cold winter night, he left São José dos Campos carrying a load of food for Caraguatatuba.   It was a little after 2 a.m.  The mountain range was covered by a thick fog. The road seemed to disappear in the truck’s headlights.  Carlos later recounted in an audio message sent to a friend that he felt something strange from the beginning of the descent, as if he were being watched, as if there was someone inside the truck.

A biting cold and the solitude of the road.  The truck’s radio started malfunctioning on its own.  First came hissing sounds. Then he thought he heard a low voice, very low.  He turned up the volume thinking it was interference from another truck driver, but then he heard it clearly.   It doesn’t make the turn.  Carlos got goosebumps, with a strange feeling he couldn’t even explain.  He looked in the rearview mirror.

Nothing.  The voice returned. Stronger.  It doesn’t make the turn.  That curve was very dangerous.  Many people had already lost their lives there.  At that moment, he noticed something stopped on the shoulder of the road .   She was a woman, dressed in white, with long hair covering her face.  She stood motionless, staring in the direction of the truck.

Carlos slowed down. He thought it was someone in need of help, but when the headlights illuminated the woman completely, he realized something impossible.  She had no face. Carlos lost control of the steering wheel for a few seconds.  The truck nearly plunged down the embankment. He managed to brake just a few meters from the side barrier.  Tremendous.

He got out of the vehicle and the woman had disappeared. But there was something even worse.  Further down the bend, a completely wrecked car was crashing against the embankment.  The accident had just happened. According to firefighters, if Carlos had continued at the speed he was going, he would have hit the vehicle head-on.

Days later, other truck drivers said that the same woman had been seen in different parts of the mountain range, always before serious accidents.  And even today, many avoid traveling through that stretch after midnight. But sometimes ghosts just want to help, like this woman did with this truck driver.

since it did not exist.  In 2021, two friends decided to travel from Curitiba to the interior of Paraná during the early morning hours.  Lucas and Renato recorded videos for the internet showing abandoned roads and forgotten places. According to them, the trip seemed normal until the GPS lost signal near a secondary road surrounded by dense forest.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the rain started pouring down, and there was no internet. No signs and no cars passing by. Everything was too strange; it felt like I was in an unfamiliar place.   That’s when they spotted an old, illuminated gas station in the middle of the darkness.  The place seemed frozen in time.  Rusty pumps, an empty diner, and a single light flickering incessantly.

Lucas suggested stopping to ask for information. Renato didn’t want to. He said there was something wrong with that place.  Even so, they parked. The silence was absurd.  Not even insects made a sound.  Lucas picked up the camera and started recording.  As he walked through the gas station, he noticed that everything looked abandoned for decades, but there was hot coffee on a table, as if someone had been there seconds before.

Then they heard the truck’s radio turn on by itself .  An old song began to play very softly.  The two ran back to the vehicle.  That’s when Renato froze, staring in the side mirror. There were people standing behind the pickup truck, four motionless figures, all looking directly at them.  Lucas accelerated immediately.

The pickup truck slid through the mud while the figures remained motionless.  They drove for almost 20 minutes until they found a small roadside restaurant that was still open. Desperate, they inquired about the abandoned gas station . The owner of the place remained silent for a few seconds. Then he asked, “Did you see the lights were on?”  They both confirmed it.

The man then recounted that an old gas station had once stood on that very spot, destroyed in a fire in the 1980s. According to the police, employees and travelers died trapped inside the diner during the early morning hours.  The gas station was never rebuilt. Lucas and Renato decided to return to the location the following day during the day, but they found nothing.

No gas stations, no buildings, just dense vegetation, as if the place had never existed.  The road where time disappears. There is an isolated stretch of the BR116 highway, near the border between Minas Gerais and Bahia, known among veteran truck drivers as the “dark corridor.”  The reason? Drivers claim to be losing entire hours without explanation.

In 2019, a sales representative named Eduardo passed by there alone in the early morning hours. He had left Teófilot shortly before midnight. According to toll booth records, everything was normal.  But at 3:17 in the morning, Eduardo called his wife completely desperate. He said he had been driving for hours, but the road never seemed to end.

According to her, her husband seemed confused.  His voice trembled and he repeated several times: “There’s someone running next to the car.” The call dropped.  Minutes later, Eduardo reappeared at a gas station more than 200 km away.  But there was something strange.  For him, only 40 minutes had passed. The gas station’s security cameras showed Eduardo arriving in a state of shock.

He said he saw figures appearing on the roadside, people walking in the dark, and lights moving through the bushes, following the car.  But the worst happened when he stopped on a completely empty stretch of road. According to Eduardo, there was someone sitting in the back seat.  He swore he was alone.

The man abandoned the car at the gas station and never wanted to drive on that stretch of road again.  Years later, truck drivers continued to report similar experiences: radios turning on by themselves, watches running slow, shadows crossing the road, and people seen on the shoulder disappearing when headlights approached. Even today, many avoid crossing that stretch after 2 a.m.

Why do they say that some roads in Brazil have not been forgotten? They simply don’t want any more visitors. If you enjoyed these stories, leave a like and subscribe to the channel, and tell me in the comments: would you have the courage to drive alone on one of these roads in the middle of the night? Because perhaps the real terror isn’t in the movies, but waiting silently around some dark bend in the next journey.
